Cacharel began in 1958 when Jean Bousquet moved to Paris to set up a small-scale tailoring business designing women’s trousers. The brand proved successful, which prompted him to set up a small company which he then named Cacharel after the name of a bird in the Camargue. After appearing on the front cover of Elle magazine in 1963 and the introduction of the ‘Seersucker’ blouse, Cacharel was launched into the international market and critical acclaim followed. Collaborations with Liberty turned Cacharel into a household name as together they designed shirts and dresses using the iconic floral print. The brand went on to set up men’s, kids, baby and fragrance lines in the years that followed. Cacharel have now become known for their youthful style, femininity, lightness, refinement and use of bright colours made of fine materials and an authentic harmony.
